Talon is the product of genetic research created by altering the dna of a Deinychus. Because of this he is capable of spoken speech and telepathy as well as being far more intelligent than any raptor would have been, more intelligent than most humans for that matter. This may be part of why he and Norris formed such a strong friendship.

It was Norris that discovered Talon in a research lab, being tortured by the scientists there, though they did not care about his feelings and treated him as an object not a living creature. This enraged Norris leading him to break Talon free, destroy the lab, and lock the scientists in their own cages. Since that day Talon has stuck by Norris side and they have been inseperable.

Talon was originally created for dark purposes and as such he struggles to resist evil at times, though with Norris help he has always made it through. These dark tendencies however only emerge when Norris is concerned as Talon is fiercely protective and loyal and would not think twice about killing on his behalf. Norris has gradually been able to teach him that killing is only a last resort.
